Gayle Bailey
720th Squadron



Col Gayle Bailey, USAF (ret) [deceased] was assigned to the 450th BG, 720th Squadron

His Military service, was, a B-24 Pilot, 720th Bomb Squadron, 450th Bomb Group (H), 15th Air Force in Manduria, Italy in WWII.

During the period from February 1944 to April 1945 he flew a total of 7 combat missions and logged 55 combat hours in B-24 aircraft.

He retired from the US Air Force with the rank of Colonel in November 1970.

Personal awards:
Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal,
Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, American Campaign Medal, Europe-Africa-Middle East Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal,
World War II Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal w/ 1 bronze star, US Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon w/ 4 OLC,
Armed Forces Reserve Medal, USAF Marksmanship award.

He was my Stepfather and Friend,
