Historical Record - November 1943

WAR DIARY – 450TH BOMB GROUP

NOVEMBER 1943 – ALAMOGORDO, NEW MEXICO

History of the Group for November 1943

The month of November was fairly static. The 450th was up to strength and ready to complete its III Phase of training.

Moral was at its highest, knowing that there were definite prospects of going overseas.

Physical fitness was up to 100% during the month of November placing the 450th in first place in the Second Air Force.

On November 4th, the first group mission got under way with 24 planes. The planes took off at 0800 and went to Wichita Falls. Other Group missions took formation of 24 planes to Abilene, Texas, and the P.O.M. Inspectors saw a good mission in Big Springs.

On November 10th, the P.O.M. arrived on the area and began the inspection that terminated our program at Alamogordo. Their final okay three days later sent us on our way.

Arrayed in full field equipment the entire 450th led by our C.O. Col. John S. Mills marched to the Base Parade Ground where a final formal review was held. And so, after a 5 months stay in Alamogordo, N.M. the 450th prepares to move on. Adios.
