My father was a nose gunner on the "Babe in Arms" and was the first to pass away from the crew. I think my mother has a picture of the plane and crew somewhere which I hope to locate.

My Dad, Louis Odette was a Navigator/Bombardier in the cottontails. He completed his 50 missions. I think he was in the 721, and "Bottoms Up" really sounds familiar. He passed away a few years ago, but my Mom still has many pictures which I will try to get and scan for your site. That way I can also verify his actual plane(s). Can you add him to the roster? Thanks. FYI, the plane "Strawberry Bitch" from the 722 is on display at the US Airforce museum in Dayton Ohio. A picture of it is available at http://www.wpafb.af.mil/museum/air_power/ap8.htm Good luck. Dan Odette

My Fathers' Plane # was 7147 he was the oldest person on the plane he was on the top turret and was the crew chief. I have 2 maybe 4 Albums of actual pictures that were taken during actual missions as they happened since there was a camera man on board on most of these missions. Would you be interested in seeing them? I have to get into my MOM,s attic to access these pictures and I am not sure what the quality is but if they are legible I can send them to you via the Internet. Let Me know if you are Interested? Thanks, Mike Harned

I think this is my third visit and I am visiting again because I noticed a ? mark after our crew's plane My Aiken. I guess that is because the ship was transferred to the 722nd after a month that we landed in Manduria. We had the My Aiken painted on the plane in Topeka ,Kansas before we took of on the northern route to New Foundland, Nova Scotia.

Have always wanted to know more about my father's experiences during WWII. He died in 1958 before he could tell me about that period of his life. All the information, photos, and stories in this site are a big help. Would love to hear from anyone who knew my father, Captain Edward J. Owen, Jr (pilot) with the 721st Bomb Squadron. I have photos but they do not show a name on the plane.

Is there any one out there that might know where I could find a 450th BG Patch and a 721st BS Patch? My dads flight jacket was stolen and I am trying to remake it for him but have had no luck. I found one place that would do it but I would have to order 50 patches each at $5 bucks a piece.

I am seeking information on my deceased father for several years now. I have not been able to determine which BG/BS he served with. He was 2nd Lt. Louis J. DeMeo, Navigator of a B-24 named "The Flying Goose" and was with the 15th AF somewhere in Italy from Jan.'45 to VE Day.He was from Buffalo, NY. I have a Presidential Unit Citation ribbon with 2 bronze oak leafs on it.He flew 5 combat missions during that short period, not many but enough to bring home some German shrapnel still imbedded in his bicep.I understand that the 450th was awarded that honor during the time frame that my dad served, which may help me identify his BG/BS. His discharge papers also show that his base unit was the 243rd. AAF in Great Bend, KS if that means anything. If anyone remembers him, or The Flying Goose, I would appreciate hearing from them. Thank you.

My father, Jo Truan was a fire/crash crew member at the Pueblo Air Base. We also was an artist and his work included the 722nd's "Holy Jo" logo. Does anyone know of other works by him. He also painted flight jackets for the crews at his home in Pueblo. He also did the "Black Panther" for another group. Thanks for any info.

I was intrigued by the photographs accompanying the story of "Disaster at Bari." After our crew's third crash landing, we were disbanded and I was sent to Bari for reassignment. If memory serves me right, this happened in the late fall of 1944. While there, about noon on one sunny day, the whole port of Bari erupted in an inferno of explosions and flames. I was near the south side of Bari and when the explosions started going off, we naturally all ran in the opposite direction. Apparently a 1000-lb. bomb that was being unloaded, slipped out of its sling and when it blew up in the hold, started a snowballing effect on the rest of the ships in port. They were also unloading gasoline, in addition to the bombs from the tankers moored nearby. I never saw so many bloodied walking wounded in my life. To make a long story short, I was thrown off by the caption written on the bottom of the pixs. Does 4/9/45 relate to the date or does it have another connotation? By 4/9/45, around the time of FDR's death (give or take a few days),

I was looking at my dad's discharged papers and he served with the 15th AF, 450th BG. We are Native Americans from Az. My dad is from the Navajo Tribe. If anyone remembers serving with a native american or have pictures, I'd sure appreciate it. My dad went onto the spirit world last year and I like to know more of what he did in the war.
