My dad, Louis W. Lessard, served with the 450th out of Manduria, Italy. He was a bombadier His brothers, both deceased, also served: Bob with General Patton's army throughout the entire war, and Jack was on the USS Enterprise. I have written my dad's WWII memoirs (in draft form as I have yet to add the photos). But I can email a copy to anyone who would like to see the draft. When I asked him about putting his WWII experiences on paper, he was hesitant because he felt that he hadn't done anything incredibly heroic. I told him he served in WWII and for that he is a hero. Thanks, Judy

I am the oldest daughter of Mart L. Cope, Jr. who appears in this guestbook several times. I thank God that my Daddy came back from Ploesti, and that he was able to raise my sister Melissa and I. He has been with my mother Louise, from the beginning and is still with her. He recently broke his hip and is coming back like the true fighter he is...My son Marty followed in my Daddy's steps and served as Air Traffic Controller in the U.S.A.F...and is now working with the D.O.D. at Tinker Air Force Base...Oklahoma City, Oklahoma...while visiting him and his wife and 4 children, I stood at the Oklahoma Bombing site....humbled and grieving....now, we have been hit on our own soil by a terrible, illogical enemy....and I pray that the boys and men who go to defend us, have the spirit my Daddy had and still has...and the same love for freedom. Thank you, you wonderful men, for this website....my Daddy is one of the heroes who deserved this attention....love, marta

My Grampa is Mart Cope and he introduced me to this site. All my life his has told me stories of the war and it has always seemed surreal. I just couldn't believe that my Grampa flew a B-24 for 50 missions. This website helps me to understand and realize all his stories and experiences. Thank you!!!!!! Cindy Browning

I was in Italy with the 484th BG 825th BS as a flight engineer with 35 missions. Any Cottontails that have not read the book "War of the Cottontails" memoirs of a B-24 Pilot are missing a great book. You should get it.

(This portion inadvertently omitted) . . . If it helps any, the name of the last plane was "No, No Nanette." Strangely enough, there is absolutely no record of her. Not in the official archives, other best web sites, authoritative authors or compilers of the B-24, nor 450th records. Talk about a mystery ship! Thanks again to you wonderful webmasters.
