St. Polten Marshalling Yards

Previous Home

St. Polten M/Y

St. Polten marshalling yard is about 30 miles North West of Vienna on the main Vienna to Munich rail line.
The main marshalling yards in Munich and Vienna were bombed out and the work was being done in these smaller yards between the towns.
The big white explosion was an ammunition train that was in the marshalling yard when we bombed it.
An unfinished super highway can be seen crossing the picture. it covers about 15 miles.
